Situated in the northeastern part of Zimbabwe, Karanda is a 150-bed mission hospital serving a catchment area of 225,000 people. The Thistle Family (Dr. Paul Thistle and Midwife Pedrinah Thistle) live and work in Karanda, dedicating their lives to the health and well being of rural Zimbabweans.

Dr. Shaye worked with Paul and Pedrinah Thistle in 2010 and was inspired by their “Life Project” dedicated to the health and well being of the Zimbabwean poor. Project Life partners with Karanda Mission Hospital to support programs of health care.
